The Governor of Delta State, Dr.
Emmanuel Uduaghan, has approved the appointment of Professor Victor F.
Peretomode as the new Vice-Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.
He has already taken over from Prof Eric Arubayi, whose five-year tenure expired recently.
Until his recent appointment, Prof. Peretomode was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) in DELSU.
Giving account of his stewardship, the
former vice chancellor, Prof. Arubayi, said that the university was
never shut down as a result of students’ protest except by ASUU strikes
during his five-year tenure as he refused to increase school fees
despite pressures to do so.
He said his administration “built three
lecture halls capable of taking 300 students, another three theatres
with seating capacity of 750, including a brand new Council/Senate
Chamber capable of accommodating 224 senators. This is in addition to
the 1, 000 capacity theatres built in its campuses in Abraka, Asaba and
Oleh, which is still under construction”.
Congratulations to Prof. Peretomode. We wish you a successful term in office…
