Press release from the office of the National Association of Nigerian Students' Joint Campus Committee Chairman, Ondo Axis on 28th Jan, 2015

The leadership of the NANS JCC Ondo axis condemn in totality the unwarranted public holiday declared by the Ondo state government for the presidential rally of the re-election of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

The entire students in Ondo state berates the cynical action of the government for truncating the ongoing examination of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko(AAUA), therefore, trivializing the students examinations out of its political desperation.

The unjust and oppressive holiday is a form of disruption in the school academic calendar, thereby causing irregularity in the examination time table.

The state government is forcefully dragging the civil servants and students into politics, which is against our ethics and portrays threat to democracy in the state without permitting them to support the political party of their choice.

While questions like OSOPADEC accumulated bursary and Ondo state students bursary and scholarship are begging for answers, all we could get from the Ondo state government is a purported holiday with no constitutional/conventional basis.

Mr President has his personal right as a citizen to campaign for election, so we also have our social right as students. He is on a personal venture, his personal venture should not affect us in any form.

We hereby urge the government of Ondo state to face its constitutional responsibilities, rather than venturing more time on GEJ campaign that is not in any way relevant to the students community.

Signed

Oladimeji Ayodele Blackey
