The management of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) have suspended seven students of the institution for allegedly involving in the violent disruption of the student’s union government (SUG) election.
In a memo signed by the Registrar, Biekoroma Amapakabo, dated March 10, 2015, it was stated that the seven students were suspended with immediate effect pending the conclusion of investigation by the Students Disciplinary Committee.
The suspended students includes six Higher National Diploma (HND II) students –Civil Engineering (1), Accountancy (1), Marketing (1), Electrical Engineering (1), OTM (1), HCM (1) and an ND II student in Mass Communication.
The suspended students are accused of belonging to a cult group which shot and injured a part-time National Diploma (ND II) student on the election day.
This led to the suspension of all students’ union activities in the college while the inconclusive students’ election that triggered the crisis was also cancelled.
