No fewer than 2,800 students took their matriculation oath to be formally admitted into the Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree for the 2014/2015 academic session.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Jacob
Agboola, warned the fresh students against engaging in cultism or
violence, saying the school has zero tolerance for indiscipline.
He said that the polytechnic have signed a Memoranda of Understanding
with some foreign institutions, including the Sussex University,
London, to enable the institutions to collaborate in running higher
degree courses.
Agboola, who said the partnership would boost the students’ exposure
and experience, added that it would stand them out among their
colleagues.
The rector urged the federal and state governments to invest more in the sector, as polytechnic education is vital to enhancing technological advancement of any country.
