A 37-man team from the National Universities Commission (NUC) on Monday, 7th December, 2015 visited Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko
(AAUA) for accreditation exercise of courses in the Institution’s
Faculties of Arts, Education, Law, Science and Social and Management
Sciences.
Receiving the NUC team in the Senate
Chamber of the University Senate Building, the Vice Chancellor, Prof.
Igbekele Ajibefun, thanked the accreditors who were drawn from
various Nigerian Universities, NUC, and other professional bodies, for
their commitment to ensuring standard in the nation’s education sector.
Prof. Ajibefun noted that the exercise
was meant to enhance and ensure the standard of academic programmes in
Nigerian universities.
He said, "In the last six months, we
have invested a lot of funds in our various programmes and departments
to ensure that our programmes are up to standard. Accreditation exercise
is good for the nation’s educational system.
"Though AAUA is young, it has made tremendous progress and focused on achieving its mantra
– building a 21st Century University, properly called. We are deepening the integrity of our academic programmes and proud of our students and alumni for excelling everywhere they find themselves."

The VC mentioned that the State Government has been giving the University support to ensure
that the University sustains its record of excellence.

He expressed the hope that the University would perform well in the accreditation exercise.
Some members of the accreditation team
commended the University for the level of physical infrastructure in
place, the hygienic and serene environment of the University and
encouraged the management to up the developmental strides.
