
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, disclosed that the new students represents about 37 per cent of the 28,400 applicants who sat for the Computer Based Post UTME screening of the institution in 2015.
He said the reason why the institution continues to receive large number of applications for admission on a yearly basis is due to its academic strides.
Orumwense congratulated the matriculating students for being among the lucky few who scaled through the various selection processes and urged them to work hard as students of the university.
The VC also advised students to make out time to engage in sports and scholarly lectures to enhance their academic performance.
