Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State made this disclosure at the maiden convocation of FUK on Saturday.
The
governor explained that N50 million was for the preparation of
convocation, while the balance of N10 million was for the establishment
of an endowment fund for institution.
He said the state also donated Gombe State Leventis Foundation Agriculture Training School in Tumu to the university as the main site of its Faculty of Agriculture.
According
to him, the state recently made available a site in Gombe for the
university to develop its school of General and Preliminary studies.
“The state is ready to finance activities and research that have direct impact on the well-being of our people.
“The onus is now for you, to write acceptable and implementable research proposal for us to consider,” he said.
The
Governor thanked the Federal Government for establishing the university
in the state and for adequately funding it to reach the level of
graduating its first set of students.
“I strongly
believe that, funding will be sustained to enable the university expand
to its fullest capacity for the benefit of the nation.
“Gombe
state is particularly grateful because our citizens now have more
access to quality education at their door step,” the governor said.
Dankwambo congratulated the graduating students for coming this far in their chosen careers.
