FUOYE Staff Protest Non-payment of Allowances & Victimisation

The staff of Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, on Thursday staged a protest against the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Azuzu, over alleged victimisation and non-payment of allowances.

The angry workers, who blocked the Ado-Lokoja-Abuja federal highway as early as 7a.m yesterday, alleged that the VC deducts tax from their salaries but does not remit it to the appropriate authorities.

A staff, Mr. Ojo Foluso, lamented that the management of the school was cheating them, adding that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has not responded to their request for probe.

One of the academic staff, a PhD holder, who spoke under condition of anonymity because there had yet to be a union in the institution alleged that the VC and the bursar had been denying the staff relocation and hazard allowances.

When reporters visited the institution, a security man at the gate said the VC was not available.
