The 44th convocation ceremony of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) which is scheduled to take place on Friday 23rd, January, 2015 will see a total of 15,904 students receive various degree certificates.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Benjamin Chukwuma Ozumba, who stated this at the pro-convocation press briefing, held at the Enugu Campus of the institution, said that a total of 14,015 students are for first degrees.
A further breakdown shows that 331 had Ph.D.; Masters Degree, 1,168; Postgraduate Diploma, 177 and Diploma, 213 graduates
Prof. Ozumba said that its founders had called for an institution that would raise a working class of Nigerians with a patriotic and productive mindset to drive the economic and political advancement of the country and the black world.
The Vice-Chancellor, however, disclosed that he made a personal resolve to promote, reward and institutionalize excellence that is why the 44th convocation is unique as it hinged on excellence.
