The 2014 batch C National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who served in the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) have added value to the Academy through the renovation of some parts of the NDA Medical Centre, Old Site.
The gesture which formed part of the
batch's Community Development Project during the year - long national
service saw the renovation of the Officers’ Ward, Male and Female Wards,
Cadets Wards and the Isolation Center of the Old Site NDA Medical
Center.
According to the Corpers Liaison Officer
(CLO), Mr Igbabee Elijah, the renovation was a token in their
appreciation to the Nigerian Defence Academy for her immense and
financial contributions to the welfare and comfort of the Corps Members.
Commissioning the newly renovated wards,
the Commandant NDA, Major General MT Ibrahim, appreciated the NYSC as a
scheme and the Corps Members for working towards the progress of the
NDA through their collective contributions, which according to him had
blocked a lot of loopholes in the NDA.
Advising the Corps Members, the
Commandant told them to first identify their goals, be steadfast,
focused, disciplined and stick to the identified goals.
He also advised them to make themselves
employers of labour using their human capital instead of searching for
the elusive white collar jobs.
Major General MT Ibrahim further urged
them to always improve their society by giving back to the society which
invested in them.

He also encouraged them to develop the
presence of mind in identifying needs and reaching out to the society in
their own individual and collective ways.
They were enjoined by the Commandant not
to be in a hurry. For according to him, a lot of disasters could arise
from unnecessary and careless haste.
Finally, Major General MT Ibrahim urged
the Corps Members to, above all, seek and find God so that he will guide
them in all their endeavors.
