The management Crawford University, Igbesa in Ogun State, has announced the appointment of Prof. Isaac Ajayi as the new Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
According to the acting Public Relations
Officer of the institution, Dr Afolabi Oladapo, the appointment was
made by the institution’s Governing Council, in conjunction with the
Board of Trustees.
Oladapo said that Ajayi had become the
third substantive vice chancellor of the institution, succeeding Prof.
Samson Ayanlaja, whose tenure ended on October 4.
He said that until his appointment, Ajayi was a sabbatical professor in the Department of Physics at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).
The acting Public Relations Officer said
that 50-year-old Ajayi bagged a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree with
Second Class (Honours) Upper Division in Physics/Electronics from the
University of Ibadan, in 1987.
The spokesman also said that Ajayi
obtained a Master of Science (MSc) and a PhD in Radiation and Health
Physics in 1990 and 1994 respectively from the same University.
He said that the new vice chancellor is
also a graduate of the Management of Higher Education Institution
Training of the Galilee International Management Institute, Israel and
the Harvard University Extension School on Higher Education.
According to Oladapo, Ajayi rose to the apex of his career when he became the acting Vice Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA), Ondo State in 2014.
The PRO described the appointment of the
new vice chancellor as an “icing on the cake’’ for Crawford University,
because he had functioned in the Nigerian University system in several
capacities.
Oladapo said that the vice chancellor,
for over 25 years, had been actively involved in teaching and research
in his field of specialisation in various universities at home and
