The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Adebiyi Daramola has urged newly admitted students of the institution to exhibit diligence, focus and good character in order to be successful in their academics.
Prof. Daramola, speaking during the 2014/2015 orientation exercise for the new students reiterated the importance of combining intelligence and character, adding that character sustains success.
According to him, “You are not here for certificate alone. No matter how brilliant you are if your character is faulty you are not likely to be reckoned with. Here at FUTA, we mold students into becoming responsible Nigerian citizens. They combine academic excellence with high moral standard.”
At the occasion, a motivation speaker, Mr. Agunbiade Oyewunmi who spoke on the topic ‘Vision and Scholarship: A Classroom Meditation’ advised the students to make use of all opportunities available to them
