A total of 6,930 students were admitted into the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) during the 36th matriculation ceremony of the institution held last week.
Administering the matriculation oath, the Vice-Chancellor of the university,
Professor Joseph Ajienka, urged the newly admitted students to shun
cultism, truancy and examination malpractice as the authorities of the
university would sanction students who flouted its rules and
regulations.
He also reminded the freshers that any students who failed to attend
the minimum of 75 per cent lectures bench mark would not be allowed to
sit for examinations.
A breakdown of the number of admitted students showed that, 1,911
were admitted in the College of Natural and Applied Science, while
Faculty of Humanities admitted 1,183 students.
Further, the Faculty of Education had 1,148 students, Faculty of Management Sciences 802, Faculty of Social Sciences 748, and College of Engineering 380. Others are, Faculty of Agriculture 348, College of Health Sciences 258, and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences 152.
